cold feet

Wow it has been quite a while since I blogged. I am currently at home, on a Friday, resting. I played badminton last night, that's why. I wouldn't normally stop that from making me go to work but because I'm playing tonight for the sportsfest, I chose to rest. Okay let me start from the very beginning.

In February, my SZ friends and I started playing badminton. BUt you can ask them, I never took it seriously. I wouldn't even TRY to run after the shuttlecock. I let my always-partner Nathan run after it. Then, the levelling for badminton came. Levelling is where people would play against each other then those from Level A would watch and decide on which badminton level you should be. For the Soluziona sportsfest, there are only 3 levels: A, B, C.

Normally, newbies are placed in C especially if they do not play at all. THose who were in level C last year would move up to B. Only select people become level A, and they are the really good ones!

So I had myself levelled, and I knew deep down I'm gonna be in Level C. Duh! With the way I move? Haha! After the levelling, my team, which is Sevilla, started practicing with team Madrid at Platinum. There, Sir Jing started teaching me the different badminton skills he has mastered. And people have told me that anyone Sir Jing teaches goes on to become a Level A player someday. In two practices, I planted crops, I did a drive, I cleared, I lobbied, I learned the footwork. All these happened in the last 3 weeks.

Earlier this week, right after holy week, I got a pop message from Lori, one of our Level A players, asking me if I could play in tonight's game against Bilbao. BUT, I have to play in the Level B since they saw my improvement and I cannot play in C for fear of being contested. They will be pairing me with Daddy Divino a strong Level B player and my friend.

With this being said, I started losing sleep. By wednesday this week, Sir Jing already told me who we are up against in Bilbao and that they ARE a very strong team, belonging in the higher B level. So he suggested we practice again and that he will teach me strategies for he knows their weaknesses.

That's what happened last night. We practiced short services, clearing drop shots and even returning drives from the opponents. It was tiring and funny at the same time. My friends heard every little comment, from "Masyadong mataas" "Out yan!" to "Nice!", "Ganyan lang"

And so I am now having cold feet. Everyone would be watching, especially my "coach" and its going to be quite a pressured game! Mamaya na yun!!!! Oh well, just wish me luck. I am not expecting to win but I sure hope I do not fumble and look stupid while playing in the court. I do not wish to give scores to the opponent by missing the easy shots! No can do! Argh! The pressure.

Anyway, I'm about to go and take a bath now. Half day leave lang ako, hindi whole day. Hehehe!
